Sounds of Silence: The Reflexivity, Self-decentralization, and Transformation Dimensions of Silence at Work

This article explores silence as a phenomenon and practice in the workplace through Buddhist-enacted lens where is intentionally encouraged. It brings forward reconsideration of roles organizations by proposing emancipatory dimensions silence—reflexivity, self-decentralization, transformation. Based on 54 interviews with employees managers Vietnamese telecommunications organization, we discuss dynamic nature silence, possible coexistence constructive oppressive aspects spirituality context. Instead studying one-dimensional, call for an integrated view argue that requires consideration multiplicity its interconnected dimensions. By considering relational emerging processes constructed around vagueness uncertainties, our study reveals many ways organized organizes sheds light marker complexities paradoxes organizational life.
